I am a sustainable, multi-media marbling artist and an educator. I marble on paper, natural textiles, including leather, and on wood. I love the diversity of marbling, creating leather goods, including jewellery, wearable textile art, soft furnishings, lighting and stationery.
Marbling is a surface pattern art, originating in Japan over a thousand years ago and is now seen as an endangered heritage craft.
WORKSHOPS
If you are keen to learn how to marble, I tutor workshops in my own studio in South Devon, in local galleries and at events, like Craft Festival.
I enjoy demonstrating in schools, galleries and museums throughout the UK. I am also a tutor for West Dean Art College, Oxford Summer Art School and The National Trust.

My shop will occasionally offer one of a kind, limited batch runs, ready for shipping, as well as some seconds (perfectly imperfect!), samples and second hand, but good condition equipment and tools, perfect for novice marblers.

Cathy McTI thoroughly enjoyed a marbling class with Rachel. I’d expected to enjoy the colours and patterns of marbling on fabric and paper. What I did not expect was how much her tuition would improve my practice! Rachel shared her knowledge by conveying the importance of cleanliness of tools and materials, the use of correct recipes and timescales for mordanting fabrics and papers, as well as explaining how workplace temperatures, humidity, and calm mindful practice impact the outcomes. What an ace class!
