Introduction to Marbling + Simple Bookmaking Workshop

Full day creative workshop

Discover the ancient art of marbling and the joy of bookmaking with my Introduction to Marbling and Simple Bookmaking workshop. You will be guided through the process of marbling patterns on papers and creating beautiful handcrafted books using the patterned papers. A perfect activity for adults looking to explore their creativity and learn a new skill in this educational and informative workshop experience.

During the morning, you will learn the techniques used to create unique and beautiful marbled heritage patterns on paper, while experiencing the therapeutic benefits of this meditative process. After lunch, you will be taught how to create a folded, concertina style book and a stitched Japanese bound book.  Both books contain inner quality cartridge paper, suitable for your artwork, poetry and collaging.

During this fun workshop, you will be required to stand over the marbling bath for some of the morning.  If you have a disability, please let me know, so I may set up the workshop to accommodate your needs.

All materials, an apron and gloves are provided.  I suggest wearing old shoes in case paint splashes.  Refreshments are provided, so please let me know if you have food allergies, are GF, or vegan.  Lunch is not included, but you are welcome to eat a packed lunch in the studio, or visit the local pub or cafe, just a few minutes walk away.
