Small, focussed class size: 4 Adults
Join me in my studio in South Devon for a mindful, full day marbling and bookmaking workshop. You’ll learn how to use calming breath-work and Japanese techniques to produce Suminagashi ink marbled papers and make a Japanese stab-bound book using your marbled patterned papers, as well as a simple stitched notebook and an origami folded bookmark.
You will be guided in how to prepare your space and papers for marbling, how to prepare your inks and about the tools needed to make your patterns.
All equipment and materials are provided, including an apron and gloves, as the ink can stain.
After lunch, we will use the patterns made to make two simple books and an origami folded bookmark. Some cutting, glueing and stitching is involved.
Refreshments and all workshop materials are included. An apron and gloves are provided, but I suggest you wear older clothes as the ink can stain.
Lunch is not included, but we have a friendly local pub and a farm café, either a short walk or few minutes drive away.
