Discover the endangered heritage craft of European heritage craft marbling and the calming activity of creating origami inspired table decorations. You will marble patterns to create origami inspired table decorations and place setting cards and a ceramic bauble.
A perfect activity for adults looking to explore their creativity, play with colour and learn a new skill in this fun and informative workshop experience. You will be guided through the process of preparing your paper and paints, the marbling bath and the tools required to create patterns.
This is a small class size, so you get focussed attention.
During the morning, you will learn the techniques used to create unique and beautiful marbled heritage patterns on your decoration papers, while experiencing the therapeutic benefits of this meditative process. You will watch a demonstration for each pattern step and then be guided to create your own marbling patterns on the papers, before marbling your bauble.
After lunch, you will be taught how to create folded, origami inspired, table decorations and place settings with marbled name cards.
All materials, an apron and gloves are provided. I suggest wearing old clothing and old shoes, in case paint splashes. During the workshop, you will be required to stand over the marbling bath for some of the morning. If you have a disability, please let me know, so I may set up the workshop to accommodate your needs. Unfortunately the studio cannot accommodate a wheelchair.
Refreshments are provided, so please let me know if you have food allergies, are gluten free, or vegan. Lunch is not included, but you are welcome to eat a packed lunch in the studio, once I’ve cleaned away the marbling area, or welcome to visit the nearby pub, The Cali Inn, or the café, The Ringfeeder.
