Japanese Ink Marbling and Bookbinding Studio Workshop

Small, focused class size: 4 Adults
Join me in my studio in South Devon for a mindful, half day ink marbling and bookmaking workshop. A lovely introduction to the most ancient form of marbling on paper and basic bookbinding.
You’ll learn how to use calming breath-work and Japanese techniques to produce Suminagashi ink marbled papers to make a Japanese stab-bound book using your marbled patterned papers.
You will be guided on how to prepare your space and papers for marbling, a bit about the history of ink marbling, plus the best inks and tools needed to make your patterns. You'll watch a demonstration for each technique and practise on smaller papers, before making your patterns on larger paper and cards.
Refreshments and all workshop materials and equipment are provided, plus an apron and gloves, but I suggest you wear older clothes as the ink can stain.
Lunch is not included, but we have a friendly local pub and a farm café, either a short walk or few minutes drive away, for after the workshop.
Directions to Studio will be sent once booking is made, the week prior to the workshop.
